The paper studies the lineage of the Katićs, nicknamed Mornar. The lineage was established at the time of immigrations to Vranjic and Solin, the first of them being baptised on 28 May 1656. The long duration of the lineage, as long as until now, caused the creation of numerous family nicknames. The lineage has developed in numerous places outside Solin as well. The lineage has the largest number of its members in Solin, Kaštel Sućurac, Split and Zadar. To this lineage also belongs the famous historian, rev. From 1930 he worked part time in the Split Bishopric Classical Grammar School, to become its vice-headmaster in 1932, and the headmaster in 1934. At the same time, in 1932, he became the archivist of the Archbishopric Seminary, and from 1934 of the Bishopric Archives.
