Sažetak
The technological progress enables new ways of spatial data acquisition. The development of technology has greatly influenced the increasingly frequent appearance of volunteered geographic information as a data source. Although volunteered geographic information represents progress in data acquisition, there is a question of the quality of such data. The most known example of volunteered geographic information is OpenStreetMap (OSM), which creates an open, free, digital map of the world with data collected by volunteers. The subject of the paper was to study the structure and features of OpenStreetMap data on urban areas, and to review the recommendations for standardization of data for editing the maps in OSM and OSM data model. In the practical part of the paper, first presented area of city Novska on OSM was analysed and then that area was mapped according to the described recommendations. Mapping of Novska was accomplished in JOSM, and numerical data for statistical analysis were obtained with QGIS.
