Sažetak

The paper presents diagnostic procedures and treatment of a patient with acute retinal necrosis caused by varicella zoster virus. Despite long-term treatment, the outcome of therapy was poor and the patient remained with permanently impaired vision. Some eye disorders, such as acute retinal necrosis can be rapidly progressive, and therefore require prompt and accurate diagnosis to guide initial therapy. Regardless of the etiology, acute retinal necrosis can lead to vision loss. Vision loss in acute retinal necrosis can occur if proper treatment is delayed or even if it is not delayed. Detailed physical examination and diagnostic procedures are key for reaching the diagnosis, but sometimes it is difficult to distinguish infectious uveitis from non-infectious cause or even manifestations of malignant tumor.
