Sažetak

Professor Težak contributed to the Croatian teaching methodology in all its aspects. Generally, he determined the essence and purpose of learning Croatian, established the didactic terminology, created links between programmes and syllabi. As for the teaching of literature, he focused on the interpretation of poems and fairy tales in primary school. He stressed the culture of speech and education for oral communication. Težak also set the groundwork for the teaching of film by underlining the importance of this type of education in shaping a young individual. He gave many didactic instructions based on methodological principles, systems and approaches. According to Težak, the important factors in the teaching of Croatian are the teacher, pupil and teaching environment. He especially pointed out the love and care for the Croatian language, language heritage, and the importance of promoting language culture and literacy.
