Morphometric analysisi of the nucleus and myonucleus DNA skeletal muscles of athletes and non-athletes of both sexes

Sažetak

This investigation involved 24 students of physical education (9 male non-athletes and 5 each of football players, handball players and karate athletes) and 9 female students (5 non-athletes and 4 active athletes). The morphometric study included the average volume of skeletal muscle (m. vastus lateralis).
In men, the obtained statistical differences were significant between the group of non-athletes and individual groups of athletes (football, handball, karate) in the volume of myonucleus and concentration of DNA, per one myonucleus as well as per unit of volume of muscle tissue. Groups of female students did not show a significant statistical difference among the indicators investigated in the study.
