Sažetak
Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is characterized by a combination of sensory, motor and autonomic symptoms which are differently expressed in each patient. Multiple multifactorial central and peripheral mechanism are involved in its origin, and depending on the dominant mechanism different clinical subtypes seem to exist. Considering that CRPS is a disabling disease which can cause severe functional disability, prompt and individual treatment is necessary. The diagnosis is purely clinical and the therapeutic approach challenging. The main problem is the lack of high quality, randomized controlled
trials which could provide reliable therapeutic recommendations. Also, given the multifactorial pathologic pathways involved, it is highly unlikely for one therapeutic modality to fit all patients. A major issue for the clinicians to be aware of is a broadly applicable preventative therapy with anti-oxidants. CRPS patient overall needs to be thoroughly contemplated with therapy, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, psychosocial support and drug therapy, individually adjusted.
