Sažetak
The next-generation sequencing represents a significant technological progress that allows a vast improvement in animal genome knowledge and its widespread use in various fields of veterinary medicine. Advanced technologies are currently being applied to entire genome sequencing, exosome sequencing and targeted DNA fragments and RNA sequencing in animals. This review focuses on the current achievements, applications and challenges associated with the use of advanced sequencing technologies. The history of next generation sequencing technology in animal genomics, its further development and future applications are presented.
