Sažetak
The paper presents the necessary elements important for the production of high quality multimedia textbooks. Printed media is no longer a dominant medium in an environment in which today’s generations are growing up. Multimedia display provides a better understanding and comprehennsion because the content is displayed in multiple ways. The digital textbook also offers text and animations, and the information is presented with sound, image and graphics. The paper provides an overview of laws, standards and requirements, guidelines for the development of digital textbooks, recommendations for the development of educational materials for e-learning and rules for the design of multimedia digital textbooks. The paper points to the advantages of today’s digital textbooks and discusses the possibilities of using multimedia digital textbooks in teaching.
