Sažetak

During the evolution, the sense of sight underwent many changes and it varies from species to species. Many people wonder why and how we can see, and how the sense of sight has developed in other species. Research is being undertaken on a daily basis and it answers most of these questions but discoveries have led to new questions that need to be answered. In this paper, we describe the main differences between fish and mammalian eyes, and present a characteristic finding on the retinas of three fish species Annular Seabream (Diplodus annularis), Red Mullet (Mullus barbatus) and Streaked Gurnard (Cheliodonichthys lastoviza). We also discuss the significance of the changes observed.
