Abstract

In this work we have first tried to determine the specifics of town lifestyle now and here. In the second part we have set out certain suggestions for the pastoral work adequate for our time and place. Namely, the lifestyle, circumstances, problems and possibilities in a contemporary town are essentially different than those in the past times, especially in comparison with the village environment. Modern ways of communication, mobility, general accessibility to all pieces of information, have resulted in the formation of a specific system of values and views on the world and society. In the earlier phase of urbanization a significant detachment from the religious occurred, while in recent time we are witnesses of a powerful return of interest in religion and spirituality in towns. However, it often happens that, in that interest in the religious, people often resort to various new spiritual movements, and it seems that Christianity somehow loses its place and role. Here we have tried not only to analyse the present state but also to present some new proposals that would, in accordance with the message of the Gospel, essentially contribute to the advancement of pastoral work and pastoral offer in contemporary towns.
