Sažetak

A cover crop is a sown but unharvested plant species or mixed plant species which are used to add fertility and thilt to the soil, fix atmospheric nitrogen, reduce erosion, suppress weeds, trap and recycle excess soil nitrates and provide other benefits for the commercial crops. A number of impressive examples of the use of cover crops for weed control are available in literature. The most common form of cover cropping is planting of legume, such as clover, vetch, or grains such as rye, barley, wheat, oats or mixtures of the listed plant species.
