Sažetak

(+)-Methyl β-methoxy-β-phenylpropionate (VIII) was prepared from (+)-mandelic acid and from (+)-β-hydroxy-β-phenylpropionic acid (I). In this way the configuration of I was correlated with that of mandelic acid.
