Sažetak

The study was carried out on 12 lab mice, weighing about 30 grams, divided at random into the control and the experimental group. The mice in the experimental were operated on in such a way that a longitudinal section was made approximately above the m. tibialis anterior and the muscle was removed after cutting through the tendon, nerves and arteries. Care was taken not to damage the m. extensor digitorum longus.
Following the post-operative period, all the mice were put in a compartment together, under the same regime of nourishment, light, temperature and activity. After 90 days biopsy was performed and a piece of muscle tissue from the middle part of the m. extensor longus was taken. The issue was fixed- post-fixed, cut into sections and contrasted according to Palade, 1952.
For each type of muscle tissue (type I and type II) 50 micrographs were made of the cross-section of the muscle tissue (enlarged 22500 times). The center of gravitation of each muscle of each muscle was determined and on the basis of connection of that center and the sarcolema, segments were determined and divided into three zones after the method of James and Meek, 1979.
An increase of the "surface density" of mitochondria was the result in both types of muscle fibers. However, the obtained differences between the experimental and the control group were significant only in the central zones of muscle fibers of type I.
