Abstract
Integral actualization of basketball is achieved through basketball game. In this paper the basketball game is recognized as an autonomous and a complete system. Based on game registration, succession of the characteristic game situations is indicated. Game intervals marked by common characteristics that recur during the game are defined by the category state of the game. The sequence of those states is defined by the category flow of the game. For the purpose of game description, the formal mathematical model, based on the kinematic approach, is defined. The model is able to distinguish two basic states that are defined as: position state and transition state. Tendency towards the preservation of balance is found to be the basic property of every state. Based on basketball principles and playing experience, the system of principles and the set of rules for the preservation of balance is presented. It has been concluded that the presented model can be further investigated in order to attain a higher sophistication level at which a larger number of states can be differentiated.
