Latent structure of standard indicators of situation-related efficiency in basketball game

Sažetak

The main goal of this research is to establish the latent structure of basketball game, For this purpose we have used the ALPHA factor method on 13 standard indicators of situation-related efficiency of the basketball game, observed throughout 64 matches of the basketball world championship in Toronto in 1994. The initial coordinate system has been transformed by means of non-orthogonal rotation according to the OBLIMIN criterion. Four relatively independent latent dimensions have been isolated and named as: EFFICIENCY OF THE PLAYER OF THE BACK DEFENSE LINE AND THE FRONT OFFENSE LINE, EFFICIENCY OF THE PLAYER OF THE FRONT DEFENSE LINE AND BACK OFFENSE LINE, GENERAL EFFICIENCYIN OFFENSE AND EFFICIENCY OF SCORING A GOAL FROM THE DISTANCE. It has been concluded that neither the standard use of the variable of the situation-related efficiency nor the use of the latent dimensions that have been derived from them suffice to explain fully the structure of the basketball game.
