Sažetak
The aim was to compare the values of allergy biomarkers, total IgE (uIgE), specific IgE (sIgE) and specific IgE index (IsIgE) against the cocksfoot (Dactilis glomerata, Dac g) grass allergen and eosinophilic granulocytes in and beyond the pollination season. Children with confirmed hypersensitivity to cocksfoot allergens (N=80) were selected and divided into two groups. Group 1 included children examined during the pollination season (n=64) and group 2 children examined out of the pollination season (n=16). The concentra- tion of selected parameters was determined by standardized laboratory procedures. The values of all allergy biomarkers tested, espe- cially sIgE and IsIgE, were statistically significantly higher in the group of children tested during the cocksfoot flowering season as compared with the group tested out of the season (p<0.05). Consequently, correlation of the biomarkers was higher during the season of exposure to the causative allergen. In conclusion, the results obtained indicate that biomarkers of allergies, sIgE and IsIgE in particular, should be determined at the time of exposure to the Dac g allergen.
