Sažetak

Coccidiosis is a protozoan disease caused by parasites of the genera Eimeria and Isospora that most
commonly infect intestinal epithelial cells. In goats and sheep, it most often affects the small intestine with
the formation of mucosal proliferative nodules and a variable degree of diarrhea. Young animals are more
sensitive due to the weaker regenerative ability of their intestinal mucosa, and with proliferation they more
commonly present with hemorrhagic enteritis. This article presents the macroscopic and histopathological
findings of coccidiosis in a kid, necropsied at the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, University of Zagreb.
