Sažetak
The aim of this research was the examination of the effectiveness of police warnings and speeding fines. The research was conducted on a sample of 190 participants. In addition to measuring the vehicle
speed, a questionnaire was created, as an additional measure. The results showed that two types of police sanctions equally successfully influenced behavior in the form of adjusting the speed of driving after the sanction was implemented. No statistically significant difference was found between the warned and penalized drivers in the change of speed. Furthermore, most participants stopped for the first time stated haste as a reason for speeding. Penalized participants most often stated a penalty received by the police as the reason for non-compliance with the speed limit during the second stop, while warned participants most often stated mood and then received a warning from the police. Participants who adhered to speed limits after the police sanction stated a penalty received by the police and a warning received by the police as the most common reasons. Furthermore, age and driving experience have been shown to play a significant role in adhering to speed limits.
