The Understanding of Conversion by Ezekiel and Deutero-Isaiah

Sažetak
For two prophets of the captivity—Ezekiel and Deutero-Isaiah — conversion is marked specifically by the historical circumstances of their time. In Ezekiel, conversion has two fundamental forms: conversion as a way of the return of Jahveh's glory that enables the return of the people, and conversion that relates to each man and his decision for good or evil. This second form brings conversion to the level of human action and in Deuteronomy theology, it obliges man to practise the Law. Deutero-Isaiah remains on the line of classic prophets in his notion of conversion. Conversion, according to this prophet relates to God the creator who is this on an historical level and acts as the redeemer. Conversion is God's turning to the people and returning the people to God. For Deutero-Isaiah, conversion then is leaning on God with complete trust and hope.
