Sažetak
The paper analyses the Arneri library based on an inventory of books listed in the course of the 1860s and/or 1870s. The library of the Arneri family, with 469 titles in 578 volumes, is an example of a city-based complex family library. Bibliographic research and content indexing (to classes and subjects), as well as other archival records and relevant bibliography have revealed that the Arneri library represents a crucial link in a centuries-old tradition of Korčula`s private libraries. The oldest editions were printed in the 16th century. Its beginnings can probably be dated to the same century. The inflow
of books continued throughout the next few centuries. At the turn of the 19th century, it probably represented the largest private library on the island. In the regional context, it is of medium size, but typical in terms of its contents. Reflecting the needs and tastes of its family members, the collection shows an array of themes, such as literature, law, religion, history. Its distinctive mark is a rich collection of law books. The language of the library is predominantly Italian, with prevailing works and editions of the 18th century. The collection is focused on Italy as well as Dubrovnik and Korčula.
