Sažetak
Some traces of foreign language teaching to young learners in Osijek can be found in the 19th century, while FL teaching as part of regular curricula in lower primary school classes started some thirty years ago. That time marks also the beginning of investigations into the process of FL learning and teaching in Osijek primary schools. Some of these investigations and their achievments have been presented in this article. The problem of training teachers
for FL teaching to young learners has been particularly dealt with.
