Sažetak
Supervision of ship maintenance in the fleet is carried out by the ship superintendent. That is a demanding job that requires a person of high expertise and diverse knowledge, a person who must use a number of different technical methods and procedures in everyday work. The development of a fleet maintenance plan, i.e. the case study described in this paper, is one such case when ship inspectors must apply a large number of different methodologies in order to successfully create, implement and monitor a fleet maintenance system. The inspectors began the process by making a list of tasks where they anticipated all the tasks from the initial idea to the final action of modifying the system in operation after the initial run-in period. The to-do list includes a number of different theoretical methods used in maintenance, from maintenance goals determination, maintenance type determination, SWOT analysis, FMA analysis, simple reliability calculation, failure probability calculation, etc. Although these methods can be described as relatively simple, knowledge and the use of a large number of these methods shows that the design, implementation, control and modification of maintenance systems is a demanding job intended for highly skilled personnel.
