Abstract
The Split's episode of the encounters and activities of Jakov Gotovac ( 1895-
1982.) and Boris Papandopulo (1906-1991.) and everything they were personally
for us with their music; and what they become for Europe in the 20's
and 30' s of this century, shows that both men achieved and mediated music
knowledge and experience from both domestic and European surroundings
and therefore impulsed and helped us in professioning in all the elements of
the music life in which they were manifoldly involved. Also it shows that by
their successful activities in a two-kind role - in their country and amongst
their people and also abroad - they were precious sources and mediators of
information about their very own music origins and statements made out by
their music and finally because they were such people, they were important
factors in the significant and preparable stages of our music and music cultures
in reopening towards Europe and the rest of the Word, in restoring a connection
with them, in including ourselves in their music flows on a way to
a mutual appreciation and acception.
