Sažetak

Aim. To see into the impact of exercise on lymphedema reduction following surgical treatment for breast cancer and to search into guidelines that can
be implemented in clinical practice in Croatia.
Methods. We have searched existing systematic reviews on different types of exercise on breast cancer related lymphedema (BCRL) in PubMed, Cochrane Central and PEDro electronic databases. We have included nine systematic reviews published in the English language in the last five years about the influence of resistance training, yoga, Pilates and Nordic walking on BCRL.
Results. None of the included systematic reviews has shown worsening of BCRL after exercise. Resistance training can potentially influence BCRL reduction, while we still do not have enough evidence about the influence of yoga and Pilates on BCRL. Even though we do not have enough evidence
for Nordic walking, it potentially might cause BCRL reduction.
Conclusion. Women with BCRL can safely engage in exercise without fear of developing or worsening lymphedema in accordance with the guidelines.
