Students’ satisfacton with the educational trip in Istria

Sažetak

The undergraduate professional study program of International Hospitality and Tourism Management - majoring in Gastronomy on Aspira College of Management and Design includes courses in the field of hospitality, catering, economics, management, oenology and gastronomy itself. According to the curriculum of the course International Management of Gastronomy and Food and Beverage Technology, it is planned to acquaint students with the gastronomic offer of different Croatian regions and their modern culinary trends. As part of the course, an educational trip to Istria was organized for students.
This paper examines students’ satisfaction with the practical knowledge acquired during the educational trip which is an integral part of their studies. A focus group was set up where students’ attitudes about the benefits of acquiring practical knowledge on an educational trip and the importance of an educational trip in their higher education were examined. Furthermore, this paper examines students’ opinion on the impact of educational travel on their level of independence in work and coping in new (more natural) circumstances of learning and teaching. The paper presents the results of the research and they confirmed the assumption of student satisfaction with the acquired practical knowledge of these types of educational study trips. According the information aquired in this paper, all the advantages of the educational journey and its impact on the speed of knowledge acquisition will be presented, having in mind that the material is exhibited in a stimulating atmosphere and indigenous environment. In this way, students were given the opportunity to acquire knowledge from experts in various fields and they said that after this experience they were inspired to continue working and studying.
