Lexemes for corn and for husking and hulling in traditional farming

Sažetak
This article presents dialectal lexemes from the semantic area of corn-related terms in traditional agriculture. The article presents dialectal material collected for the Slovenian Linguistic Atlas (SLA) on questions 197 ‘corn’, 198 ‘corn husking’, and 198(a) ‘corn hulling’. The linguistic material from the Slovenian language area shows considerable dialectal diversity; many different expressions are used for ‘corn’, as well as for ‘removing the husks from the corncob’ (ličkati, majiti, slačiti, kožuhati, etc.) or ‘removing the kernels from the corncob’ (ružiti, luščiti, robiti or robkati, etc.).
