Sažetak
In the article, the authors deal with the legal position of lay believers in the current Code from 1983. The development of thoughts about the role, identity and position of lay believers in the Church, as well as their participation in Christ’s priestly, prophetic and regal ministry, is presented. Emphasis is placed on the canonical provisions that deal with the rights and duties of lay believers, that is, their participation in the mission of the
Church. In literature, there is a noticeable lack of works containing research on the involvement of lay people in the offices of the Church. Therefore, the authors conducted research from which concrete and objective indicators emerge about the activities of lay believers in certain offices in the area of the Diocese of Varaždin. The main aim of the work was to provide an insight into the activities of lay believers in specific offices, to show their structure, efficiency of action, and to contribute to the creation of greater awareness of the need to include lay believers in existing offices within the Church.
