Abstract

The aim of this research was to translate, apply and validate the Measures of Stressors and Supports for Teachers (MOST) questionnaire on a sample of Croatian teachers. The research, conducted online using the g-suite platform, involved 288 teachers from different cities in the Republic of Croatia. The Croatian version of the Measures of Stressors and Supports for Teachers questionnaire, translated for the purpose of this research, was used. The questionnaire is intended to test ten groups of potential sources of stress and supports for teachers, namely parents, colleagues, students, school leadership, students with developmental problems, safety, belonging, emotional state, professional development and time pressure. The exploratory factor analysis indicated a structure of 10 factors, similar to the original, where only a small part of the items had saturation on several factors. The reliability check showed very good reliability of all subscales. Correlation analyses indicated a significant, moderate relationship between almost all 10 constructs representing potential sources of stress and support to teachers. Teachers assessed the safety with their highest marks and then the emotional state and their students. The lowest values were assigned to professional development. Still, it should be noted that the estimates on all dimensions were higher than average, suggesting that teachers estimate most of the structures as a source of support in their work rather than stressors.
