Sažetak

Densitometry (Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry, DXA) is the method of choice for measuring bone mineral density and represents the "gold standard" for diagnosing osteoporosis, predicting fracture risk, and monitoring the effect of treatment. Thanks to the advanced software support of the densitometric device, it is possible to measure body composition, detect vertebral fractures and analyze trabecular bone microarchitecture. According to the latest guidelines of professional societies, clinical indications and insights into the application densitometry have been expanded, with additional recommendations regarding imaging techniques for assessing bone quality. Understanding densitometry, its indications, and methodology performance are the indispensable basis for optimal application in clinical practice.
