DEVELOPMENT POSSIBILITIES FOR THE LEARNING COMPANIES AS AUTOPOIETIC SYSTEMS

Sažetak
In accordance with the growing interdisciplinarity in scientific research, the focus of this paper is the possibility to apply the autopoiesis on the development of social systems, especially economic systems. The concept of autopoiesis was originally developed in biology, but is gaining in popularity in various fields of research. In the paper it is discussed if autopoiesis can be of use in attempts to understand the behavior of modern companies. The underlying assumption of the paper is that the learning company concept is the suggested model for development of modern companies. The fundamental hypothesis verified in the paper is the incompatibility of autopoiesis with the development of learning companies. The concept of autopoiesis is methodologically reviewed through Peter Senge’s disciplines of a learning organization. The unsuitability of autopoiesis is also proven by taking into consideration the suggested model of management of modern learning companies.
