Sažetak

In this paper, the problem of FACTS regulation of voltage and reactive power compensation is presented in a distribution network with a wind power plant connected. The wind power plant has constant speed and constant frequency using an asynchronous generator operated by a non-regulated wind turbine. The problem is analyzed based on short-term (10sek), mid-term (10min), and long-term (48hours) time periods of system variables' reaction to different wind speed changes. Regarding different wind speed wind power plant injects different values of active and reactive power into the distribution network whereby near consumers are subject to significant voltage changes. In a conventional approach to the problem shunt compensation batteries situated in the node of the asynchronous generator were used. In the FACTS approach Unified Power Flow Controller – UPFC is used, which is situated in the node where the wind power plant is connected to the distribution grid. UsingFACTScompensation presents an attempt to resolve technical questions of voltage regulation in the node of wind power plant connection and minimization of reactive power interchange between wind power plant and distribution network.
