Sažetak

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) describes a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that often results in
disturbances in performing motor or physical activities. The aim of the research is to examine whether
there is a difference between groups of children with ASD with mild and pronounced symptoms in
the frequency, quality and intensity of participation in physical activities, to determine the differences
between groups of participants depending on sociodemographic factors, as well as to identify potential
sociodemographic factors which make the difference in the frequency of participation of children with
ASD in physical activities. 233 parents of children with ASD took part in the research and evaluated
the expression of autism spectrum disorder symptoms and their children’s physical activity through
questionnaires. It was discovered that groups of children with ASD with different levels of autism
spectrum symptomatology differ in the frequency, quality and intensity of participation in physical
activities (PA). According to socio-demographic factors, the structure of the household, i.e. the number
of siblings of children with ASD, was highlighted as a factor that makes a difference between groups of
children with ASD according to the level of PA. Also, monthly income in the household was identified
as a variable that makes a difference in the level of PA, where it is evident that children from families
with lower monthly incomes show a lower level of PA, in contrast to children from families with higher
monthly income.
