Abstract

The aim of this study was to display the data on the frequency of births by Caesarean
section in the maternity ward of the General Hospital in Virovitica between 2005 and
2014 and compared them with data on the level of the Croatian. In the ten-year period, a
total of 7856 births and caesarean sections done in 1619, an average annual 20.6%. The
primary cesarean section was made in 58.9%, 41.1% iterative in pregnant women, and
those who have previously given birth by caesarean section, the labor was terminated in
13.5% vaginal. A visible trend in the incidence of caesarean section, the presence of the
frequency higher than the state average, and a higher incidence of repeat caesarean
section and vaginal delivery completed on women who have previously given birth by
Caesarean section. The general trend of the completion of delivery operating through a
permanent increase, both worldwide and in the US and Croatia. Proper indications for
cesarean section to the professional guidelines should reduce the upward trend in the
operating completion of delivery.
