Sažetak

ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION: Despite the progress of the medical profession in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients after
stroke, their quality of life is still at unenviable levels. Although
treatment prolongs the patient's life, requiring his return to the working environment
primarily quality health care, professional and skilled medical staff and
of course, large material resources invested in the process of retraining
patient for work and contribution to the community. The importance of the nurse in the entire process
patient care is great, but more and more emphasis is being placed on prevention
occurrence of stroke due to high mortality, reduced quality of life and
consequences that remain after treatment.
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this article was to investigate the level of quality of life in patients after
stroke and determine the importance of nurses in preventive, public
health programs, care and rehabilitation of the patient.
METHODS: The PubMed database was searched with the aim of finding suitable studies and
articles published in the past 5 years. Keywords: stroke,
quality of life, nursing care, rehabilitation.
RESULTS: During the database search, 35 articles were found, of which, according to
inclusion criteria (keywords, date of publication from 2011 to
2016, articles in Croatian and English), for this research used -
10. Relevant data from the used literature indicate the need to invest resources in
prevention of stroke, education and training of nurses
for providing health care, but also emotional support to the patient and his family s
considering the consequences of the disease.
CONCLUSION: New guidelines in the care of patients after stroke as
the outcome has a reduction in negative consequences and gives room for improvement
nurses and providing the highest quality health care focused on
the patient. Although material resources are limited, through the potential of nurses
as a motivator and educator, better results are achieved in retraining
patients. At the same time, attention is focused on cooperation with the patient and his family
for which, in addition to knowledge and skills in practice, good communication skills are extremely important
skills.
