Sažetak
Stroke remains one of the leading determinants of death and severe disability worldwide. This paper highlights the pivotal role of nurses in caring for patients with cerebral circulation disorders after a stroke. It emphasizes the importance of continuous assessments and monitoring of vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, oxygen saturation and the timely detection of complications. Various complications that patients may experience after a stroke are also outlined, including motor problems, spasticity, sensory loss, urinary and gastrointestinal issues. The assessment of patients' mental health is depicted through psychosocial aspects of recovery, such as depression, fatigue, and social isolation.
Through a multidisciplinary approach, nurses play a crucial role in preventing complications, timely recognizing problems, and providing support to patients during their recovery after a cerebral circulation disorder. The need for specialized care and protocols is emphasized, not only in stroke units but also in other admission units, to ensure that patients receive nursing care in accordance with best practices, regardless of the hospital unit they are admitted to.
