Sažetak

Modern society, or the information age, is affected by a number of different challenges, and one of them is the phenomenon of fake news - fake news that floods the media and the entire information space. Fake news can be presented as a method of manipulating the public through the rational and emotional spheres. Information technology development, the emergence of new media, a number of social networks, and different video channels have led to the spread of a large amount of misinformation and fake news. In this paper, we will show the use of the media to influence public knowledge through the spread of fake news, which is part of a deliberate disinformation strategy. By disseminating different types of information, from disinformation, fake news, and wrong information, the media influence the rational and emotional part of the public, which leads to changes in opinions and attitudes. As a complex and divided society, Bosnia and Herzegovina does not have a single media space, and its disjointed media space (mostly online media) is subject to the spread of a lot of misinformation and fake news. The paper aims to show the influence of the media on the area of public knowledge through the use of various-shaped information to achieve disinformation influence and through the use of fake news to realize various forms of interest of certain political groups. The fight against various types of information as a broader area of (dis)information strategy is continuous, which aims to reveal the intentions of the implementers of information strategies and the discovery of fake news, which is only one part of a long-term misleading strategy. All members of society must have basic knowledge in recognizing information that is not in the service of factual information but in the service of pseudo-truth that tries to overcome the truth and expand the scope of fake news.
