Sažetak
In this paper we discusses language politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the time one of the six federal republics of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, during the period from March 1967, when the Declaration on the Name and Status of the Croatian Literary Language was issued, until the Sarajevo Symposium on Language Tolerance, held in April 1970. The conclusions reached at the Symposium and the polemical discussions prompted by divergent interpretations and assessments of them are analysed in detail. Taking into consideration the language politics in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole, it is concluded that the Symposium can be regarded as a milestone in the development of a new, autonomous, Bosnian-Herzegovinian language policy during the Socialist period.
