Sažetak

Data collected by space missions are stored and made available to users through archives of individual space agencies and specialized portals for space missions. Users often encounter numerous challenges when searching for and downloading data of interest, even though access to the data is unlimited for all user groups. Current methods of storing this valuable dataset are primarily focused on long-term archiving, and they are largely tailored to scientists in the field of space research, with inadequate access and search functionalities that do not meet the needs of a broader user base. To make this data efficiently accessible, it is necessary to develop a Spatial Data Infrastructure of Celestial Bodies (SDICB). In the current methods of archiving and accessing space data, users often face problems in finding data of interest, data dispersion, and the difficulty of interpreting them. The archives for describing and storing data use outdated standards (PDS 4) and inadequate metadata, which form the foundation of a successful IPP initiative. This paper describes and analyses the metadata of current space data archives, which are compared to international standards of terrestrial initiatives, and based on this, guidelines for improving metadata are provided for the successful implementation of the SDICB initiative.
