TRANSPORT – A FACTOR IN BREAKING THE VICIOUS CIRCLE OF DEVELOPMENT IN TRANSITIONAL COUNTRIES
Ratko Zelenika
Drago Pupovac
Sažetak
Transport as a specialized economic branch, which together with the traffic infrastructure and the traffic suprastructure takes, moves and transports goods, live animals and passengers from one place to another, is very important in the national and international economy. The elaboration of the interrelation between the transport and the economic sectors: primary, secondary, tertiary, quarterly and quintary, proves the statement. In this paper great emphasis is put on the transport as one of the key factors in breaking the vicious circle in which the countries formerly having centrally planned economies find themselves at the end of 20th century. Then, the terms sustainable development and sustainable development of transport in the transitional countries as well as in the world are elaborated.
