Sažetak
Renal transplantation is the optimal treatment modality for end-stage chronic kidney disease. Despite advancements in surgical techniques and immunosuppressive therapy, surgical complications persist as a significant cause of reduced function and graft loss, potentially leading to additional comorbidities in the recipient. These complications can be categorized either etiologically or temporally. Etiologically, they can be divided into complications related to vascular and urological structures, while temporally, into early or late onset complications. Vascular complications include hemorrhage, hematoma, renal artery or vein thrombosis, renal artery stenosis, lymphocele, arteriovenous fistula and pseudoaneurysm. Urological complications of renal transplantation include hematuria, graft hydronephrosis due to obstruction and urinary leakage with or without the formation of urinoma.
