Sažetak
Appendectomy is one of the most common surgical procedures in the pediatric population. Appendicitis in children is often manifested by abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and fever.
Healthcare plans for each child are made separately, based on established needs. Problems that children face after appendectomy require careful assessment, care, and support from nurses. Nursing diagnoses include the analysis of symptoms and risks, while nursing interventions aim at alleviating these problems. Nursing-medical problems require timely assessment and interventions to prevent serious consequences. The nurses need to spot complications on time and deal with them. Healthcare regarding the child's discharge is limited to rest, nutrition, avoiding physical activities, and monitoring symptoms.
The nurse's role is crucial in the postoperative period for support, prevention of problems, and provision of care for the child's successful recovery.
