Abstract
Proper georectification of scanned cartographic representations is an essential requirement for obtaining high-quality spatial data about objects that represent their content. CAD and GIS software provide a variety of solutions for correcting geometric distortions of raster images, caused by deformations of the map supporting materials and scanning errors. The paper critically evaluated four widely distributed software, with the aim of examining their capabilities for determining and eliminating non-uniform deformations of scanned cadastral plans. The results of the practical application of different global and local transformation methods of the raster image of the cadastral plan sheet, as well as different resampling methods were examined and analysed. The research revealed that certain software solutions produce georectification results that significantly differ from the expected values that should have resulted from the applied transformation methods.
