Sažetak

In the daily, competitively intense environment, companies significantly increase their activities when implementing ethical and non-material values in their operations. Namely, in order to increase competitiveness on the market, companies must quickly respond to the increasingly demanding needs of a complex business environment, especially in terms of socially responsible business. Furthermore, they must meet the need for numerous innovations in business, raise the quality of daily management, and improve relations with customers and employees. The purpose of ethics and socially responsible business is to accept responsibility for one's actions, and to encourage a positive impact through one's activities on the environment, the community, workers, and consumers. Therefore, this paper, through the analysis of the conducted empirical research, shows the level of implementation of socially responsible business, small and medium-sized companies in the area of Podravina, and its importance for gaining a significant competitive advantage in business.
