Sažetak

Canine osteosarcoma is the most common form of bone sarcoma and typically occurs on the long tubular bones of the forelimbs and hind limbs. It mainly affects male dogs of medium to large breeds and occurs on average at around seven years of age. When making a diagnosis, both cytopathologically and histopathologically, it is important to consider the mesenchymal origin and its ability to form different tissue types. Spinal osteosarcoma is a rare form of sarcoma with a prevalence of less than 25%. Due to its specific location, its local invasiveness and its ability to metastasise, it can cause various clinical signs. Given the importance of osteosarcoma in veterinary medicine, it is crucial to understand its basic characteristics and
biological behaviour.
