Sažetak
Lupus erythematosus (LE) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease that affects various organs and organ systems. The skin is one of the most frequently affected organs. Changes on the skin can appear as an independent disease, but they can also be one of the manifestations of a systemic disease. It is believed that about 80% of patients with systemic LE develop skin changes over the years, while in about 30% of patients with systemic disease, skin manifestations are the first sign of the disease. Various environmental factors such as smoking, drugs, hormones, infections can have an influence on the onset of the disease, but also on its exacerbation in genetically and immunologically predisposed individuals, but the most significant is ultraviolet irradiation. A good knowledge of skin symptoms, significantly contributes to the early suspicion of the diagnosis, as well as the final diagnosis and the timely start of the treatment. Along with adequate photoprotection and conventional local and systemic therapy, new therapeutic options for treatment with biological drugs and JAK inhibitors have appeared today or are in the pipeline. In addition, the high-quality teamwork of dermatovenerologists and clinical immunologists and rheumatologists significantly improves the final treatment outcomes of our patients and improves their quality of life.
