Sažetak
Dubravka Kozina is remembered in academic and educational circles mainly as the principal of the Fourth Gymnasium in Zagreb and, somewhat less often, a philosopher focused on translating and interpreting the works of Friedrich Nietzsche. Her important contribution to the development and improvement of the high school ethics curriculum remains scarcely known, as does the fact that, during the last days of her life, she took up the role of principal of the Croatian Department of Education, which has since been renamed the Education and Teacher Training Agency. What is more, she was, in all probability, the first woman to occupy the principal’s seat of what is undoubtedly one of the oldest independent public institutions in Croatia. Today, however, her name rarely comes up even within the very establishments whose history she was a part of – or, at least, could have been. The reason lies partly in the fact that there have not been any attempts to integrate her labour and pursuits into a unified panoramic work going beyond succinct lexicon jottings. That said, painting a complete picture of Dubravka Kozina’s legacy seems to be possible solely by combining formal and informal sources, the latter of which include interviews with her family, colleagues and friends, along with unpublished texts and scripts in her husband’s keep. Only then can one be able to appreciate her invaluable humanistic approach to the educational system as a whole. Hoping to contribute to this insight, the upcoming chapters aim to organize the available materials on the philosopher through the following three thematic units: biographical review, philosophy and activities in the field of education.
