Sažetak

Introduction: The model of insufficient nursing care is a relatively recent term that refers to the illustration of aspects of the necessary nursing care of patients that are omitted completely, partially, or delayed. The objectives of the paper are to describe the model of insufficient nursing care, and its fundamental aspects and to describe the causes of insufficient nursing care in hospitals. This expert work is focused on the description and definition of the model of insufficient nursing care and the evaluation of the model considering certain criteria, among which are clarity, simplicity, significance, appropriateness, testability, and acceptability. Appreciation of the model of insufficient nursing care within the overall health system can have a positive impact on understanding the importance of providing overall care to achieve the fastest recovery and reduce the suffering and pain of patients.
Methods: During the preparation of this work, the literature in English was searched through the center for online databases and through search engines such as EBSCO, Pubmed, and Medline. When searching, the English terms from MeSH "missed care", "patient safety", and "nursing theory" are used. To display the model description and analysis, we found 10 articles through the search.
Results: The results will illustrate the basic elements of insufficient health care and the reasons for their occurrence. After the presentation of the model, the evaluation of it was presented.
Conclusion: Beatrice J. Kalisch's research identified nine aspects that are often neglected in the healthcare system and the causes of these omissions. Appreciation of the model of insufficient nursing care within the overall health system can have a positive impact on understanding the importance of providing overall care to achieve the fastest recovery and reduce the suffering and pain of patients.
