Sažetak
Manure is a valuable secondary animal product with numerous applications in agricultural and non-agricultural areas. Depending on the animal husbandry system, it is prepared in the form of solid manure, slurry and liquid manure with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium as the main nutrients. This article examines the possibilities for the practical application and utilisation of manure. The main application of manure is the fertilisation of agricultural land. In some parts of the world, manure is used for the production of biogas, paper, as animal feed, building material and as solid fuel. Most of these uses of manure have not yet been sufficiently researched or commercialised worldwide. Although the obvious decline in livestock numbers in Croatia and the EU is leading to a reduction in the amount of manure, the growing concern about climate change is changing the perception of manure, which is increasingly seen as a sustainable and ecological material.
