Dear readers, you are looking at the June issue (no. 41) of the Cartography and Geoinformation journal, published by the Croatian Cartographic Society.
At the beginning of this issue we present three scientific articles, followed by regular columns with presentations of conferences and exhibitions, books, journals and other publications, as well as other news and announcements to alert readers to interesting and regular events in the field of cartography and geoinformation.
The first scientific article deals with the loxodrome and the isometric latitude with detailed derivations of the equations and the solution of basic geodetic problems along the loxodrome on the sphere and on the rotational ellipsoid. The second and third articles deal with map projections. The second article is an overview article on map projections, which gives a historical overview of the development of map projections with special attention to the official map projections in Croatia and map projections in Croatian education. The third article, entitled Map projections and Sustainability, contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals by proposing a modern classification of map projections that departs from the usual cylindrical, conical and azimuthal classification. The authors take a critical look at the exploration of digital maps and their carbon footprint and warn against world maps created in map projections that should not be explored from a sustainability perspective in the future.
After the scientific contributions, the catalog by Bruno Brakus entitled Cartographic Collection of the Museum of the City of Šibenik from 2022 is presented. In the category Reviews of books, journals and other publications, the Slovenian scientific journal Acta geographica Slovenica is presented, which has published a special issue entitled Old maps in geography and cartography, in which the topic of old maps is discussed in five articles. In the News and Announcements category, you can read about the meeting of the UNGEGN Central and South-Eastern Europe Section, which took place in Prague in May 2024. Unfortunately, we end this issue of the journal with a sad note, as Drago Štemberger, a long-standing member of the Croatian Cartographic Society, has left us.
Finally, I would like to thank all the authors for their contributions, the reviewers, all those who collaborated and contributed to the quality of this issue, as well as the State Geodetic Administration and the Croatian Chamber of Certified Geodetic Engineers for financially supporting the publication of the journal.

Dragi čitatelji, pred vama je 41., lipanjski, broj časopisa Kartografija i Geoinformacije u izdanju Hrvatskoga kartografskog društva.
Na početku ovoga broja donosimo tri znanstvena rada, a u nastavku slijede redovite rubrike koje sadrže prikaze skupova i izložbi, knjiga, časopisa i drugih publikacija te ostalih vijesti i najava kako bi čitatelje upoznali sa zanimljivostima i redovitim događanjima iz područja kartografije i geoinformacija.
Prvi znanstveni rad bavi se loksodromom i izometrijskom širinom uz detaljne izvode jednadžbi i rješavanje osnovnih geodetskih zadataka uzduž loksodrome na sferi i na rotacijskom elipsoidu. Drugi i treći rad vezani su uz kartografske projekcije. Drugi rad je pregledni rad o kartografskim projekcijama koji daje povijesni prikaz razvoja kartografskih projekcija s posebnim naglaskom na službene kartografske projekcije u Hrvatskoj i kartografske projekcije u hrvatskom školstvu. Treći rad, pod naslovom Kartografske projekcije i održivost daje svoj doprinos ciljevima održivog razvoja, predlažući suvremenu klasifikaciju kartografskih projekcija koja se razlikuje od uobičajene podjele na cilindrične, konusne i azimutne. Autori se kritički osvrću na istraživanje digitalnih karata i njihov ugljični otisak i upozoravaju na karte svijeta izrađene u kartografskim projekcijama koje ne bi trebalo istraživati u budućnosti s obzirom na održivost.
Nakon znanstvenih radova slijedi prikaz kataloga autora Brune Brakusa pod naslovom Kartografska zbirka Muzeja Grada Šibenika iz 2022. godine. U kategoriji Prikazi knjiga, časopisa i drugih publikacija prikazan je slovenski znanstveni časopis Acta geographica Slovenica koji je objavio poseban broj pod naslovom Stare karte u geografiji i kartografiji gdje je u pet članaka obrađena tematika starih karata. U kategoriji vijesti i najave može se pročitati o sjednici UNGEGN-ova Odjela za Srednjoistočnu i Jugoistočnu Europu koja je održana u Pragu u svibnju 2024. godine. Nažalost, ovaj broj časopisa završavamo tužnom vijesti jer nas je napustio Drago Štemberger, dugogodišnji član Hrvatskoga kartografskog društva.
Na kraju zahvaljujem svim autorima na njihovim prilozima, recenzentima, svima koji su surađivali i pridonijeli kvaliteti ovog broja te Državnoj geodetskoj upravi i Hrvatskoj komori ovlaštenih inženjera geodezije koji financijski pomažu izdavanje časopisa.
