Abstract

One way to celebrate European Heritage Days is by organizing thematic book exhibitions aimed at familiarizing library users and visitors with the rich library collection. The exhibited books are primarily part of protected collections and study reading rooms, used exclusively within the library due to their valuable and rare nature. Thus, alongside museums and archives, libraries serve as guardians of cultural heritage, tasked with presenting the public with the cultural wealth hidden among their shelves. This paper will describe book exhibitions and related programs held at the Božidar Adžija Library from 2020 to 2024 as part of the European Heritage Days, emphasizing the diversity and specificity of the library's collection in the field of social sciences and humanities, for which the library specializes.
